Look Who’s Two!

We celebrated Logan’s actual birthday by going to the zoo! What child doesn’t like the zoo? Definitely not my kid! We apparently went on twitterpation day. The peacocks and mountain rams were very…enthusiastic. 😉 Other than that, the weather was great, and since we went early it wasn’t too crowded. Logan had a fantastic time!

I’d like to point out that this picture is not zoomed. This peacock walked about 4-inches from my foot!

And just because, some beautiful spring tree blossoms near the bear exhibit:

More pictures from the zoo, including many of the animals can be found here.

Lego Extravaganza!

At times it is hard to believe, and others it’s very obvious that Logan is two years old! It feels so long ago that I was pregnant, on bed rest and bringing home a tiny 5-pound baby. The age he is at now is very fun. He’s active, talkative, loves to help and tell me he loves me all the time.

Saturday we had a party to celebrate Logan’s birthday. One of his favorite toys are Legos, so picking a theme was very easy.

All of the above plus several bins of Legos for all of the kids (and adults) to play with. If you want to see additional pictures from the party, go here.

The Rest of December!

Last year we drove to California for Christmas. This year we opted to stay at home. Logan was old enough to enjoy Christmas, I wanted a tree and we have been having plenty of snow so I was very hopeful for another white Christmas.

Instead of us going to see Gramma, Grampap, Aunt Gretna and the dogs, they came to see us (really, just Logan).

The trend for snow continued, and three days before Christmas we received 24-inches of fluffy white powder! We were all ecstatic for the snow (except for maybe Noah, who helped his brother plow and shovel). Gretna was able to experience her first white Christmas. We all enjoyed playing in the snow, and Logan helped Gretna and me build a snowman in the cul-de-sac, a dangerous location. The snowman had many close calls with Death in the forms of: neighbor’s minivan getting stuck, the mail truck, the garbage truck, and a neighbor’s cheep turning donuts. We eventually set cones around it until the weather warmed up enough where he was already starting to melt away.

To top off the snowfall, we even received another 1/2-inch on Christmas Eve!

Logan was not overly excited with opening gifts on Christmas morning. He had already been up for a while, had grown quite cranky and was ready for a nap. Alas, he enjoyed his presents after he had taken a morning siesta.

It was a great Christmas with all of the snow and family.

A Summary of (most of) December

December was a busy, cold and snowy month. It felt very much like Christmas. We made sure Logan had plenty of opportunities to meet Santa, this year, starting with Santa Cow at Chic-Fil-A:

Logan was recovering from a cold, but was not one bit afraid of Santa Cow, and even offered him a high-five! After breakfast, we headed out to buy our Christmas tree…in the snow. I was the only one who thought that was a fun outing.  It was incredibly cold (15 degrees-ish) and snowing. Logan got cold and Noah got cranky (but then again, he didn’t bring his gloves). I will concede that it is difficult to unwrap a frozen tree.

At the beginning of December we got almost a foot of snow in a couple of days. It made for a wonderful family photo op, that would have only been improved by Logan not being sick:

Once he was feeling better it was time again for not one, but two more opportunities to meet Santa! One of the perks of living in a small town is all of the fun and free events the chamber puts on. Santa was set-up downtown with Victorian carolers. Unfortunately we missed the reindeer, but Logan didn’t seem to mind.

The following opportunity was at the neighborhood Christmas party. Logan ran right up to Santa and wanted to sit on his lap, unlike the other children. He was very happy to receive a candy cane. 🙂

But the best part of December was yet to come…

Snip Snip

I took this picture on Thanksgiving. Logan saw one of Jocelyn’s clips and wanted to wear it like she was.

As funny as it was, I’m glad that today he was getting his first hair cut! We took Logan to a great little salon in a nearby town that caters to children. I didn’t want to trust myself with a pair of scissors and botching his hair so badly he needed a buzz cut. That would probably make me cry.

The woman who cut Logan’s hair was wonderful and Logan was the perfect customer! He sat in a police car chair and held a couple of train cars.  There was also a tv showing the movie Cars, to grab his attention. Although, Logan isn’t too interested in watching TV.

I have a lot more pictures and a video on the actual camera (as opposed to my phone where 99% of the pictures are taken), but have yet to upload them to the website. However, I do have a picture of this adorable little guy who looks more like a young boy than a toddler!

I’ll get those other pictures and the video uploaded…”soon”. Doesn’t Logan look handsome?

Gobble Gobble!

Hope y’all had a good Thanksgiving! We spent the day around the block at our friends’, the Fieglands (Logan’s girlfriend’s house).

Lot’s of good food, good friends and one tired boy who refused to nap all day!

We sure are thankful for this little boy though (who is 20 months old today)!

Let It Snow, Let It Snow, Let It Snow!

Welcome winter! The first snow of the season is always exciting and so far we’re off to a great start! In the past 24 hours or so we had our first snow – a whopping 8-inches! We didn’t have any storms last season that even came close to that total!

Thankfully, that snow also came before the time change, so Logan and I were able to enjoy it before the sun set behind the mountains! Logan LOVED the snow!

Remember too, that with the first snow means you can now track all of this season’s snow fall right here!

And Humpty Dumpty Was Put Together Again

My car was supposed to be done on Wednesday. The body shop called and changed it to Thursday. Today is Saturday and I finally got my car back. I didn’t care about how long it took to fix my car. There were some issues with the tailgate and getting the right tire cover. Meh, I had a 2011 Toyota Rav4 rental that I wasn’t paying for.

There were more things I disliked than liked about the Rav. I liked it’s oomph, that it was new and that it had a large backseat.  That’s about it. Nice car to drive but I wouldn’t want to buy one. Plus the rental I had was white. My truck was white. My current car is black. I prefer vehicles that aren’t the reflection of all colors. 🙂 If I have a choice, my next car probably won’t be black. A blue would be nice.

My brother-in-law was hoping my car would be totaled from the accident so I could get a new vehicle. There’s nothing bad about my current car, it’s just 11 years old and quickly creeping up on 200k miles. My truck had 286k before it was stolen, so I probably have a bit more to go before I can justify getting a new SUV.

Final damage total on the repairs was around $1800. Didn’t matter to me. I didn’t have to pay for it. Of course, though, it’s in the 30s today and raining. Just not quite cold enough for it to snow. Noah was working (shocking!) but thankfully in Boulder and was able to meet Logan and me at the body shop to help corral the kid and reinstall the car seat. Logan had a grand time standing it the back on my car watching the rain. He was bundled up and the hatch above the tailgate offered a fantastic rain shield. Logan was bummed when it was time to get back in his seat.

The Rav had a floor gear shifter and my CR-V has one on the steering column. So the first couple of days I kept hitting the wipers on the Rav out of habit. When I got my car back this morning I kept grabbing the e-brake. Oops.  I am glad to have my car back that. I know the bumpers and I can once again listen to Pandora while I drive. That’s really what’s important. Plus, my car had been detailed inside and out. No more cheerios on the floor! 🙂

Good News!

Logan has been discharged from PT! Woohoo! This kid is always on the move now! Walking, climbing, standing, chasing Lava, you name it! He definitely keeps us on our toes — especially as he heads for Lava’s bowls to dump the water on the floor. 🙂

1-1/2

Each day with Logan is so much fun! We love watching him learn new things and mimic actions and words. And it was exciting to watch him learn to walk the past couple of months.

No new teeth yet, but he’s slowly working on getting his k9s. His favorite things are balls (any ball will do, really); the book Bubbles, animal crackers, his teddy, and blueberries.

He started daycare at the beginning of the month and the woman who cares for him while we’re working absolutely dotes on him. She always goes off on how perfect his features on and how he should be a baby model – that he’s way cuter than the babies on the Gerber or Pampers packaging.

A couple days ago Logan had his 18-month check-up. Aced everything all around. 🙂 Here are his current stats:

Height: 31.2″ (20.15%)
Weight: 26 lbs 14.5 oz (65.14%)
Head: 19.09″ (71.18%)

He’s still a couple inches shorter and a couple pounds heavier than his friend Jocelyn. But that’s a boy for you, right?

I will add a picture to this post as soon as I get them uploaded!
