Celebrating 60 Years!

On Saturday, we had the pleasure of attending a special mass and reception to celebrate Noah’s grandparents 60th wedding anniversary!  What a remarkable achievement they have accomplished!  Extended family traveled from all over the country to attend the festivities!  I met so many of Noah’s distant relatives, all of whom, were much more interested in meeting Logan than myself.  Haha!  That little boy was a hit with the crowd…and apparently, by his gaunt looks, I need to feed Logan more. 😉  After the reception, everyone returned to Noah’s grandparents for more socializing.  More family photos were taken (when I get copies I will post them), and I was officially inducted into the Buffalo Club.

Sunday, the festivities continued with a bbq at one of Noah’s uncle’s house.  We could only stay for a short period of time, but I was able to snap this photo of Logan spending some QT with Great-Grandma Mary Ann:

After scarfing down some lunch (all three of us), we headed to the airport to pick up my Aunt, who was came to visit us, and meet Logan, for a couple of days before spending some time in Denver with her late husband’s squadron.

Logan really enjoyed showing off for Great Aunt Ruthanna.  And, thanks to her help, we were able to get our front yard into a much more respectable appearance!  We only had a couple of days to visit, one of which, we accused her of starting the Fourmile Fire as she had “disappeared” for a bit that morning on a walk.  😉  Here’s a picture of Logan cuddling with his Great Aunt:

All in all, we had a very busy Labor Day weekend, but it was also a LOT of fun seeing tons of family!

The Next Gerber Baby

Momma’s Birthday

birthday to me!!!I would like to thank MLB for scheduling the Dodgers to be in town on my birthday, however, no thanks will be given to the Boys in Blue as they lost today. To celebrate my birthday, we took Logan to his first Dodgers baseball game!  He was very interested in all that was going on around us in the stands (in our shaded seats — Momma thought again when buying tickets).  Many people made comments about how cute he was in his Dodgers uniform and baseball hat: 2 women on the parking lot shuttle, the ticket lady at the gate, a few people with seats around ours, etc.  However, by the third inning, the excitement (or lack there of for us Dodgers fans) was too much for the little boy who fell asleep.  That is, until the Rockies scored.  And scored again.  You get the idea.  Logan eventually gave up on trying to sleep.  By the 7th inning he was starting to get fussy as he did not get a good nap in that morning, so we left during the middle of the 8th.  All we missed game wise was the Rockies scoring two more runs and the Dodgers hanging their heads in shame.  It was a good idea that we left early anyway, that way we could beat the mass exit and not have to sit in a hot car.

This weekend, there was also an airshow going on in a neighboring town – trick planes, and F-18s.  I’m already planning on us going there next year.  I’ll use Logan as an excuse, but it’s really Momma who wants to see the fighter jets go zooming by.  🙂 Now, even though people are supposed to gift the birthday girl, I’m going to give a present to my readers…Feast your eyes on the cutest Dodgers fan around!

More changes each month

I probably say this every month, but I still can’t believe Logan is already 5-months old!  Didn’t he just turn 4-months?  August sure has gone by fast.

This month Logan was able to visit with Gramma Leona, Grampa Dow, Auntie Gretna and Grandma Diane!  What a lucky boy to have family come out from California to visit him!  He is also growing like a weed, and I’m sure has sprouted more and longer hair on his head.  There have been days I have picked him up after work and mentioned how I think he grew more hair during the day.

Since he doesn’t go to the doctor again until next month, we made sure he was weighed and measured today.  Here are his updated stats:

Weight: 18-pounds, 0-ounces (72nd percentile)
Height: 26.25-inches (58th percentile)
Head: 17.25-inches (62nd percentile)

Keep in mind that although the measurements are as accurate as we can get, the percentiles were derived from Internet research.  And, if you would like to keep track of how much Logan has grown since birth, be sure to check out his stats page!

Also, during the past month, Logan has really be working hard and rolling over.  Either from his back or his stomach he would roll completely onto his side and teeter for a while before returning to his original position.  Many videos were made of nothing happening.  Well, today, on his 5-month birthday, he finally decided to roll all the way over (belly to back)!  And, of course, he did it so fast that it wasn’t captured on camera.  I do have video of an encore performance that I will post soon to his YouTube channel.

In the meantime, feast your eyes on these pictures:

Oh, I have also entered Logan into a contest to become the next Gerber baby.  Voting starts next week, so be on the lookout for emails, posts and other various forms of notification to help Logan win!

Eating from a spoon

At Logan’s 4-month check-up, the doctor told us we could start giving him rice cereal once a day.  Yesterday was the day we decided to first give it a try (we waited until Noah was home).  At first Logan wasn’t sure what to make of the soupy mixture I spooned into his mouth.  It tasted like milk…only different.  After a few tastes he decided he liked the stuff and started sucking it off the spoon!  Of course we were ready with not 1, not 2 but 3 cameras to capture the event!

Milestones

On Tuesday, July 20th, I had the honor of witnessing Logan’s first laugh. 🙂  Unfortunately for Noah, he had just left to go play softball and missed it.  I did immediately call Noah and kept him on the phone until he got to the ball field to try to coerce Logan into another giggle, but to no avail.  However, Noah did get to hear Logan laugh the following night.  Music to our ears. 😀

Then on the 22nd, Logan slept through the night for the first time! Imagine my pleasure and surprise when I woke up to him waking up right before the time my alarm goes off!  I chalked it up to a fluke so I wouldn’t expect it on the following night, which is good because he didn’t. But he did repeat himself on Tuesday of this week and last night!  I hope this is a trend that sticks because I can really get used to getting 7+ hours of uninterrupted sleep each night. 🙂

Yesterday was Logan’s 4-month check-up.  The doctor was very impressed with his growth and development.  You can’t even tell he was an early baby.  Here are his updated stats:

Weight: 16-pounds, 8 ounces (78th percentile)
Height: 25-inches (50th percentile)
Head: 17-inches (73rd percentile)

And for continual comparisons, I’ve created a stats page. 🙂  I’ve also uploaded pictures and videos here.

Three Months

It’s hard to believe my little boy is already 3 months old!  Those months did go by fast!  Noah was just commenting on how big Logan is getting and that he doesn’t look like the tiny baby we brought home from the hospital!

Here are his updated stats (percentiles are based on my attempt at reading the growth chart online):

Weight: 14-pounds, 10 ounces [fully clothed] (68th percentile)
Height: 23 1/2-inches (24th percentile)
Head: 16 1/2-inches (60th percentile)

His percentiles have not changed much since his 2-month check-up.  That probably means I’ll be due for another growth spurt soon.

Logan has also started sleeping 6 hours straight at night, which is wonderful!  Now, if I can only get those 6 hours to correspond with when I go to bed we’ll be set.  🙂  He has recently discovered his hands and fingers and loves to grab at toys and burp cloths.  We purchased an activity mat for him to encourage this new interest and boy does it!  That kid can watch himself in the mirror or make the dangling toys/animals move for hours!  He also enjoys watching our ceiling fans and of course, Dodgers baseball.  🙂

I’ve added some recent pictures to the albums on facebook but have not yet migrated them to the website.  Hopefully this weekend, when I have more time and am less exhausted, I can get them posted.

First Father’s Day!

Happy First Father’s Day, Noah!

Click on the photo for more pictures!

We didn’t do anything out of the norm for Father’s Day today, but Noah did get some QT with his son while running errands, playing with toys while relaxing on the couch and cheering Logan on as he attacked the whale on his new activity mat. 🙂  Logan did give his Daddy a gift today (other than a dirty diaper) – he “bought” Noah a new GPS unit.  How he knew Daddy needed one is beyond me. 😉

We survived!

Logan and I survived our first week with me being back at work.  The days went by fast and yet the week was still long.  The hardest part of the week, besides leaving Logan, was finding energy.  Every morning my alarm goes off at 5am (usually Logan wakes up during the 4:00 hour), and I instantly pop a top on a can of Red Bull.  Without that wonder elixir there is no way I would ever make it to work on time.  Seriously, Red Bull needs to use moms as the key to their marketing campaign!  I have 90 minutes to get Logan fed, burped, dressed and to make myself look presentable.  Somehow each day we managed to make it out the door within 10 minutes of our goal time!  And by 1:00 or 2:00 in the afternoon, I’m raiding the vending machines at work for a caffeine and chocolate fix.

As I mentioned in the previous post, Logan was having a hard time adjusting to eating from a bottle during the day.  Well, Friday he consumed 6 1/2 ounces!  Yay!  No more hunger strike! 😀  Yet, everyday when we get home the first thing that I do is feed him.  After that, I should figure out dinner, but sometimes Noah isn’t going to home until late, and sometimes I fall asleep.  Or if i don’t fall asleep, I’m seriously lacking in the energy and motivation department and would like nothing more than to go to bed.  Usually by the time Noah does get home, I’m plumb exhausted and handing off Logan to him so I can catch a couple hours of shut eye, sleeping horizontally, before Logan’s ready for his next feeding.  Meaning, around 11:00 or 11:30.  I think one day last week, Thursday night maybe, I was in bed before 11pm!  Now, if I can just go back to bed after feeding Logan during the middle of the night…

It was nice to “sleep in” this morning…and by sleep in, I mean not having to wake up to an alarm. 😉  This afternoon we went to Bosom Buddies and learned they had an infant scale! Of course I had to weigh Logan!  Fully clothed (with probably a slightly damp diaper) Logan weighed 14 pounds 10 ounces!  According the the growth chart I found online, that places him in the 68th percentile!  Friday, when he turns 3-months old, I’ll weigh him again and measure his head and length. 🙂

But for now, I’m realizing there’s no reason for me to be awake, so off to bed I go (probably just in time for Logan to wake up).
