The Verdict

Now that the initial emotion of the situation has passed, I can calmly write that I heard back from the new insurance company regarding the waiver I submitted.  It was declined completely on the grounds that I will not be 28 weeks on January 1st.  As far as the “high risk” and placenta previa, I was informed that their “doctors deal with high risk pregnancies all the time”.  Ugh.  Well, that may be, but “their doctors” are not my doctor.  So, after this month I need to find a new OB.  I did get referrals from friends and will contact that physician, but before I can do that I have to wait until I am given my new insurance membership number, “in the next couple of days”.  I hear that getting into seeing this doctor can be somewhat challenging as her appointment calendar fills up fast.  And with me going overseas at the end of the month, I’m sure it will be easy to get an appointment and my 28-week ultrasound scheduled.

Hopefully I get the call from the referral nurse before Christmas.  I do see my current doctor next week one last time.  Going to have to spill this unfortunate news to her and figure out what all needs to be done to get my file transferred.  Sounds like loads of fun.
