January is part of Winter, right?

According to the calendar this is January.  If I remember learning about seasons in elementary school correctly, January is part of winter.  That being said, I think Mother Nature is confused.  Last month definitely felt like winter.  That was when we had 2° highs and -18° lows.  We also had a fair amount of snow last month.  In January we have only seen 3.5″ of snow (3 of which were a surprise as detailed in the previous post), but it’s the temperatures of January that are the most skewed.  We’re not setting any records, but yesterday was near 70°, today it’s supposed to be the same.  Granted, I love sunshine and warmth as all true Californian girls do, but I expect and want my Colorado winters to be brisk and white.

Maybe this means we are going to get pummeled in February and March?  We have barely had any snow this season so far! This time last year we had already received over 2-feet and in 2007 we had over 5!  You can imagine my disappointment.

Can someone please send out a memo to bring winter back!
